HEIGHT:40 - 60 feet
SPREAD:25 - 35 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Upright oval to rounded crown. Dark green leaf is pale beneath; rapid grower; adaptable to a wide range of environments and soils; yellow to orange to red fall leaf color. Sap is boiled to make syrup.
LIMITATIONS:Need adequate space for roots; does not do well in planters or other restricted areas or in compacted soil; prefers well-drained, moist, slightly acidic soil; intolerant of salt.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Eastern Canada south to Georgia and west to Texas
CULTIVARS:‘Green Mountain’ leathery, dark green leaves; yellow to red fall color.
