DISTINCTIONS:Elegant, majestic tree; smooth gray bark; golden fall leaf color; leaves fade to a beige color and are held on the branches into winter.
LIMITATIONS:Slow growing; creates a dense shade underneath.
HARDINESS:SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Southern England
CULTIVARS:‘Asplenifolia’ fern-like, cut leaves; ‘Atioplinicea’ (‘Purpurea’) purple, maroon leaves; ‘Pendula’ beautiful form with weeping branches; ‘Rohanii’ brownish-purple leaves.
