SPREAD:8 - 10 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Dense, mounded habit; very small, glossy, rounded leaves; small clusters of fragrant, violet-purple flowers; produces few, if any, seed capsules; sun; pH 6.0-7.5; available as standards and often sold as trees; maroon to purplish fall color.
LIMITATIONS: Susceptible to lilac leaf miner in SE.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 3)
ORIGIN:Northern China
CULTIVARS:‘Palabin’ compact form; small clusters of violet to rose pink flowers; produces few seed capsules.
