DISTINCTIONS:Male and female plants; leaves on the male plants are splashed with pink and white markings; female plants produce a small edible fruit about the size of a grape; fruit has smooth, edible skin; climbs by twining; grows to 50 feet in length. Hardy in Anchorage.
LIMITATIONS:Leaves lose coloration in shade; male and female plants needed in order to produce fruit.
HARDINESS:INT, SC, SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Northeastern Asia to Japan, central and western China
CULTIVARS:‘Arctic Beauty’ leaves are purplish as they emerge and change to green splashed with pink and green.
