DISTINCTIONS:Good specimen tree or can be successfully pruned as hedge; leaves dark green becoming yellow-green or yellow in fall; slow growing; easily transplanted and adaptable; tolerates dry soil and air pollution; not susceptible to pests or disease.
LIMITATIONS:Dense branching low to ground limits understory planting but can be limbed up; prefers alkaline soil.
HARDINESS:SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN:Africa and Europe
CULTIVARS:‘Evelyn’ vigorous cultivar with larger leaves and good for street tree use.
