DISTINCTIONS:Multi-stemmed shrub or small tree; smooth gray bark; with obvious lenticels; leaves doubly toothed and slightly lobed; trunks gracefully arch up from the ground; seeds from small cones eaten by songbirds; tolerates shade and most soil conditions.
LIMITATIONS:Forms thickets.
HARDINESS:INT, SC, SE, W (Zone 2)
ORIGIN:Northern North America from Alaska to southern California and east to Alberta, Montana, and Oregon
