HEIGHT:40 - 60 feet
SPREAD:40 - 75 feet
DISTINCTIONS:Rounded form with wide-spreading crown; smooth gray bark; nuts are edible; pinnately compound leaves with 5 to 9 leaflets; plain yellow fall color.
LIMITATIONS:Nuts may be considered messy; nuts do not mature; roots produce chemical that is toxic to some plants (allelopathic). May not reach this height in Alaska.
HARDINESS:SE (Zone 5)
ORIGIN:Southeastern Europe, Himalayas, China
CULTIVARS:‘Carpathian’ adapted to cold.; ‘Hansen’ excellent nuts.
