DISTINCTIONS:Large lobed leaves; coarse textured twigs; bark corky with age; produces a fringed acorn; brown fall color; leaves stay on into winter; Most commonly planted oak in SC; good survival.
LIMITATIONS:Very large when mature, coarse texture; requires full sun.
HARDINESS:SC, SE (Zone 2)
ORIGIN:South-central Canada, eastern and Midwestern United States
