DISTINCTIONS:Multi-stemmed shrub or small tree; smooth gray bark; leaves pointed at both ends, doubly toothed and shallowly lobed; seeds from small cones eaten by song-birds; tolerates shade and most soil conditions.
LIMITATIONS:Spreads, forming thickets.
HARDINESS: SE (Zone 4)
ORIGIN: Pacific Northwest from southeast Alaska to central California
